And this city has a lot to offer so guess what? We have a local on our team. Born and raised in the European capital of sun and nightlife, Anna is our constant reminder of how good life can be when you are tanned. Good drinks, great parties, and excellent food is just the tip of what Barcelona has to offer, so right before the start of the AW Barcelona conference, she is giving us local insights into the city’s go-to places, to make sure you have the best experience possible. And, yes we know you’re there for business but doesn’t hurt to know about the best party places in town, right? And most importantly, the best brunch places to help you cure the hangover the day after. We got you covered. Let’s dive straight into it, shall we?
BARCELONA’S BEST AREAS TO STAY IN:
Barcelona is known as the biggest city on the Mediterranean coast and everyone who already visited the place can confirm that it is indeed huge. As a tourist, Anna recommends two areas that will help you experience the true vibes of the city.
La Eixample Dreta This area is known to be one of the most central locations in the city. It is a point of good public transport connections, allowing you to discover all the attractions the city has to offer. It is considered quite peaceful and safe, especially at night, so you shouldn’t be scared of going home from a restaurant or a bar, which, that place has plenty of.
El Born Slightly less calm area of the city but for a good reason! A great nightlife scene, packed with bars and coffee shops is what attracts most visitors to choose this area as their home for the time being. There are some great shopping options, the center, as well as the beach is only about 10 minutes walk away so, what else can you wish for?
BEST WAY OF TRANSPORT:
Walking The weather is almost always warm and sunny so don’t be afraid to explore the districts by foot!
Bike If you are like Anna and have gotten used to the dutch way of going around, then ditch the taxi and rent a bike instead.
Metro Like most large cities, Barcelona has an underground railway, allowing you to hop on and off from one place to another. For example, from the conference venue to the after-party.
Motorcycle If you want to go that extra mile, why not rent out a scooter? Barcelona is not completely flat so this could be a great alternative to biking. Just imagine the wind blowing in your hair while driving to the beach on a perfect summer day.
BARS OF BARCELONA:
Casa Bonay
If you’re into rooftop bars, this is the place for you. Located in the heart of the Eixample Dreta area, this hotel is a great option for your accommodation. You can catch up on your work in the lounge area and have a nice, cold drink on the rooftop afterward.
Paradiso
If you decide to stay in the El Born district instead, then Paradiso is right around the corner. It is considered one of the world’s best cocktail bars with its own signature drinks. The décor of the place is what adds to the experience. Dimmed lights and Gaudi-inspired interior creates chic vibes, which are perfect on a hot summer night.
La Traviesa
Another option to get your daily dose of cocktails is located in Tuset. A unique bar with an elegant and mysterious atmosphere is a great way to start your night as it warms you up with some mainstream hits.
